Meet Maggie O’Farrell with Carys Bray

Maggie O’Farrell in Conversation with Carys Bray

Thursday 23rd November, 6.30 for 7.00 start

in The Barn at Charnock Farm

Maggie O’Farrell, one of our favourite contemporary novelists, will be in conversation with Carys Bray, one of our favourite local authors. There will be time for audience questions and book signing after the interview.
I AM, I AM, I AM – Seventeen Brushes With Death, Maggie’s latest book, is an electric and shocking memoir of the near death experiences that have punctuated her life.
A childhood illness she was not expected to survive. A teenage yearning to escape that nearly ended in disaster. A terrifying encounter on a remote path. A mismanaged labour in an understaffed hospital.
This is a memoir with a difference: seventeen encounters with Maggie at different ages, in different locations, reveal to us a whole life in a series of tense, visceral snapshots. It is a book to make you question yourself: what would you do if your life was in danger? How would you react? And what would you stand to lose? I AM, I AM, I AM is a book you will finish newly conscious of your own vulnerability and determined to make every heartbeat count.
Maggie O’Farrell is the award-winning author of seven novels. Costa-shortlisted author Carys Bray won the Scott Prize for her debut short story collection, Sweet Home and has her work featured on Radio 4.
This author event will be held in the lovely The Barn at Charnock Farm. Doors open at 6.30pm for a 7.00pm start. Canapes will be served and the bar will be open.
